[Letter] 1877 Jan. 5 to Bro. [James P.] Boyce, Louisville, Ky. / John A. Broadus. 1877.

Broadus sent Boyce various contributions, including a gift of five dollars from "my Mamma." He says B. Wharton sent him an urgent request to become editor of "his contemplated Baptist preacher's monthly (I forget the title). I replied that it was totally impossible," although he liked the plan for the periodical and could be one of their regular contributors. "But Southern Baptists don't read." Talks about the weather: "Thermometer two mornings ago was at -4 ... Great sleighing for several days, not yet ended and skating on the river."
